The Palm Desert Lawn Bowling Club at the Joslyn Senior Center in Palm Desert has been the Coachella Valley’s only public lawn bowling facility since 1986. Today the eight-rink green is the seasonal home (November through April) to many Canadian and UK visitors while attracting more and more local residents who bowl year round . The Palm Desert Lawn Bowling Club is a member of SW Division of Bowls USA where several nationally-ranked bowlers in the US reside.
Lawn bowling is a sport played on a level green in which players roll bowls as close as possible to a smaller ball called a jack. No other game on earth has been more highly endorsed by health authorities for seniors than the game of bowls. Since it is played by a team, it also presents group therapy at its best. It is getting close to nature, enjoying fresh air, sunshine and healthy exercise, with a mildly competitive game in the companionship of friends. All are welcome to experience this senior-perfect healthy sport. No previous athletic experience is necessary.
Bowls take place Monday, Wednesday and Friday beginning at 9am and 8am during the summer, next to the Joslyn Centre located at 73-750 Catalina Way, Palm desert. We offer free lessons for beginners which includes use of club bowls. All visitors, from beginners to advanced, are always welcome!
